Despite the advances in digitalization and AI, humans are still the mainstay of every organization. Users like you and me interact with software daily, whether by way of mobile devices, electronic registers in retail or desktops at the office. As an employee or a customer, we can’t help but keep logging into countless apps, web sites and backend systems we don’t even notice.
It’s not very convenient for a business or consumer to set up every application with an independent account, and that’s the opening for well-known third-party providers to make our lives easier. Consequently, the “log in with XYZ” buttons are ubiquitous on the internet. Yet, there are good reasons we should be wary of their convenience and instead take better control of our digital identities, both as a business and as individuals.
