Cybersecurity training has become a significant sector in the training industry and has a sizable impact on IT budgets. With an expected market size of $10 billion by 2027, we would expect training to reduce the number of cybersecurity incidents.
However, both the number of incidents and their costs have gone up. Even worse, poor training has lowered sensitivity toward cybersecurity and increased the turnover of cybersecurity professionals and knowledge workers.
After years of working with companies to bolster their cybersecurity positions, I have come to believe there are two things we can do to address those problems. First, we need to improve the quality of the training offerings. Second, we need to ensure they positively impact cybersecurity.
