Movie tropes and stereotypes often influence our perception of reality. In the workplace, IT is almost always the topic reserved for the nerds in the company, staring at terminals somewhere deep inside the bowels of an organization. The human resource department, for its part, only exists to protect the company from its employees.
Hyperbole aside, both departments do spend a significant amount of their time dealing with employees. The IT department has to worry about employees as the most significant risk factor in cybersecurity, while the HR department has to deal with burnout due to overwhelmed employees. Yet we seldom see a collaboration between the two departments.
