Over the past couple of years, the number of cybersecurity incidents has only gone in one direction: upward. Yet despite millions of dollars in lost productivity and rising costs (paywall) for cybersecurity insurance, companies still need help with the changing compliance landscape.
If business leaders do not preempt attacks, which is admittedly an ongoing battle, we will see an increase in regulations and legal cases filling the void created by a lack of governance, leadership and investments. When speaking with executives, board members and IT departments, I always try to steer their attention to four distinct areas where new regulations are going into effect, foreshadowing further changes.
